ArcGIS Online: Connect Mobile Point Editing with Collector while Connected
So you want to successfully implement mobile ArcGIS Online editing. We are happy to share some of the lessons we have learned working with mobile enabled apps using the new mapping platform from Esri.
Both smartphones and tablets can be used to edit point features while in the field. We have helped a number of our clients set up ArcGIS Online map services, and the Collector mobile app for use in field data collection.
The ArcGIS Collector app is a nice free mobile app from Esri. Load it onto your iPhone on Android smartphone and, add, delete and edit point data while in the field. We recently used the Collector app to collect data for a military banners application we have been developing. Visiting a number of California cities we mapped the locations and attached images of local military personnel displayed on banners hung in visible locations. See the results of this work at the Military Recognition Banner Program page.. We have put together a demo of Mobile ArcGIS Online editing using the mobile Collector application in action.
ArcGIS.com: Enabling Multi-Feature Mobile Editing with Wi-Fi Connectivity
If your requirements are point, line and polygon editing; a good approach is to log in to your ArcGIS Online published web map.
As the arcgis.com editing demo shows it is easy to edit while in the field with an Internet connection any of your feature layers. Again we have helped our clients prepare their editable hosted feature layers in ArcGIS Online for direct editing.
WebMapSolution Offline Editing: Disconnected Multi-Feature Mobile ArcGIS Online Editing
If offline and online Mobile ArcGIS Online editing is crucial to your field work, WebMapSolutuions now have a disconnected editing solution.
Take your editable layers offline; add, update and attach images to point, line and polygon features. See the offline ArcGIS Online mobile app being demonstrated.
